How does n8n pricing differ from Zapier?
Zapier bills tasks. Each step in a Zap is a task, so a 6-step Zap that runs 1,000 times uses 6,000 tasks. n8n Cloud bills executions: that same workflow is 1,000 executions, because the whole run counts as one. Self-hosted n8n does not bill per run.
Are these the live vendor prices?
No. The tiers are approximate public list prices from September 2026, using monthly billing where the vendor publishes both monthly and annual rates. Plans change. Confirm the number on n8n, Zapier, and Make before you buy.
When is Zapier still the better buy?
When the workflows are short, volume is low, and the people maintaining them are not developers. A two-step Zap on a small task allowance can cost less than an n8n cloud plan, and Zapier's connector list is wider.
